Hey Brothers!
On Thursday, September 1, 2022, we held our regular business meeting at our normal time with a great dinner and 39 Brothers. Thursday night was also Ronnie Thompson, our District Deputy’s Official Visit.
As we do during all of our meetings, we discussed health and happiness, sickness and distressed, correspondence received, and read the name(s) of multiple men interested in masonry and joining our Lodge; as well as Brothers who are ready for their next degree. The Meeting Minutes from August 2022 were read aloud, Old business was discussed, new business was introduced, Secretary’s report was given, the Treasure’s report was read, and Work for the Month was set.
New and Old Business:
Junior Warden, Brother Rick Dillard was happy to report that the second Chicken BBQ was a huge success. Brother Rick thanked all who donated their time, effort, knowledge, and support.
It goes without saying, but I believe that having the Planning Sessions and being able to organize and identify critical tasks certainly helped ensure the success of this, and BBQs to come. Thank You! It would not have been possible without you.
A motion to purchase twenty-four (24) new litter pick-up / reaching tools and safety vests of various sizes was proposed and passed.
The Building Committee, under the direction of Past Master, Jud Close will be looking into the cost(s) and option(s) of possibly installing a sound system within the Lodge room to help the hearing impaired. If you have an interest in helping, or you yourself are knowledgeable with sound system(s) for small spaces, please reach out to Jud Close.
Steward, Brother Chris Slaughter, will be heading up where Brother Henry Cuevas left off, with the opportunity for Brothers of Boyleston Lodge to benefit from purchasing an active polo style embroidered shirt with square and compass logo and the Boyleston Lodge name. Brother Chris has established an account with Kathy’s Kreations in Irmo and Brothers will now be able to simply visit Kathy’s Kreations at their leisure to purchase an embroidered polo shirt with their choice of color, size, and a mirid of additional options. Options can/could include embroidery of items such as hats, jackets, bags, etc. If you are interested and/or would like additional information, please contact Chris Slaughter at chrismslaughter@gmail.com
Kathy’s Kreations is located in the Irmo Village Shopping Center next to Craft-N-Draft and Outspokin’ Bicycles at 7591 St Andrews Rd, Irmo, SC 29063. The telephone number is 803-732-2157. Simply indicate that you are a member of Boyleston Lodge and wish to purchase an item and have the logo applied.
Information continues to be gathered to take advantage of the Dominion Energy assistance program for non-profit organizations. Currently, the Lodge is looking into replacing the dinning room HVAC unit and/or LED lighting in the Lodge meeting room. As more information is gathered, that information will be presented at future business meetings to discuss the potential options the Lodge would like to undertake to take full advantage of this program.
As a reminder, on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 6:00 PM the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) will be using Boyleston Lodge for a large event/ Official Visit. Brother Junior Warden, Rick Dillard, with the assistance of the “Kitchen Crew”, will be preparing and serving dinner however additional assistance will be needed. Approximately eight (8) Brothers will be needed and a commitment of roughly two (2) to three (3) hours of your time.
