June 2022 Trestle Board

Hey Brothers!

On Thursday, August 4, 2022 we held our regular business meeting at our normal time with a great group of Brothers, a great dinner, and a great crowd!

As we do during all of our meetings, we discussed health and happiness, sickness and distressed, correspondence received, and read the name(s) for two (2) Brothers who took their Entered Apprentice Degree(s) back in 2016 / 2017 are ready to continue their journey in Masonry.

We also read the name of one (1) gentlemen who has petitioned our Lodge for membership, voted for one (1) petition for reinstatement, voted for one (1) to receive their Entered Apprentice Degree, voted for two (2) to receive their Fellow Craft Degree, voted for one (1) to receive their Master Mason Degree, and investigation committees were established for each of the appropriate petitions.

The Meeting Minutes from July 2022 were read aloud, Old business was discussed, new business was introduced, Secretary’s report was given, the Treasure’s report was read, and Work for the Month was set.

New and Old Business:

Junior Warden, Brother Rick Dillard reported again that tickets for the second Chicken Bar-B-Que Fundraising Event are on sale and are available for $12.00 per ticket! He reminded everyone that plenty of help is needed and appealed to all that, if you haven’t done so already, please let him know if you are planning to attend and willing to help with an event task.

As a reminder, our next Chicken Bar-B-Que Fundraising Event will be held Saturday; August 13th, 2022. Preparation day will be Friday, August 12th, 2022. This event is open to the Public and tickets will be sold at the door if you have not purchased tickets in advance. If anyone has any questions, please communicate with Brother Dillard at rdillard58@yahoo.com.

As an additional aid to help with the planning and execution of the Chicken BBQ a simple volunteer sign-up sheet was sent to all Brothers with active email addresses. Please locate the link to the survey, attached herein:

or locate the email sent from boyleston123afm@gmail.com, subject; “**Chicken BBQ** - Volunteer Task Signup - Boyleston No. 123” sent on August 5, 2022.

Out of 250 Brother’s with active email addresses only 13 Brothers have completed the survey sign-up sheet, to-date. Please take five (5) minutes or less to complete the sign-up sheet, so we can better coordinate and organize all efforts and ensure a successful event!

As you may have noticed, the removal of the white wooden fence which parallels the railroad tracks has now been removed; however, we continue to discuss a possible replacement or alternative parking lot delineation method. For now the existing concrete wheel stops which had become buried over time have been unearthed, relocated, and installed until a more permanent solution is approved. The Building Committee continues to consider all options before making its motion at a future Business Meeting.

With the assistance of Brother Steward, Casey McDermott, the Lodge has recently communicated with Dominion Energy to discuss an Energy Upgrade Program that allows qualifying non-profit organizations to receive incentive-based facility upgrades at little or no cost to the organization. The program allows non-profit organizations to explore energy upgrade options such as lighting, refrigeration, and/or mechanical heating and cooling (HVAC) replacement. As more information is gathered, that information will be presented at future business meetings to discuss the potential options the Lodge would like to undertake to take full advantage of this incredible program.

On Friday, September 16, 2022 at 6:00 PM the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) has asked to use Boyleston Lodge for a large event/ Official Visit. The membership present voted and approved their request; however, OES has also asked that Brothers of Boyleston prepare and serve dinner for the Women in attendance. Brother Junior Warden, Rick Dillard, with the assistance of the “Kitchen Crew”, agreed to organize and prepare and serve dinner however additional assistance will be needed. Similar to the volunteer sign-up sheet created for the Chicken BBQ, one will be created for the OSE event. Approximately eight (8) Brothers will be needed and a commitment of roughly two (2) to three (3) hours of your time.
