DECEMBER 2023 TRESTLEBOARD

Greetings Brothers,

Well we made it through another year and thinking about what we’ve done this year I’m so very proud of this Lodge and your accomplishments.  In past years we have done quite a bit more degree work but that doesn’t mean we didn’t make up for that with doing other things.

We’ve done some community service projects and other activities such as The Adopt-a-Highway litter pick up program, we contributed to and worked at the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Home, and brothers from the Lodge constructed 2 access ramps for Brothers in need.  We did our 2 chicken bbqs that were very successful.  We enjoyed some activities like attending a Columbia Fireflies baseball game, and we had a Lodge picnic.  All these things were made easier and enjoyable by those of you who participated.  All this adds up to show what a wonderful Lodge we are members of.  The more Brothers that participate just make it better.  Please remember this is your Lodge and your participation just makes it better.

As we start our new year, I can tell you that we are privileged to have a fine group of officers to see us through 2024.  Other than the Secretary and Treasurer, every other chair is filled with non-past master which is refreshing and bodes well for our future.  Thank you to all who stepped up.

Back to the meeting, we had a fine crowd of 61 in attendance  that were treated to a fine meal of London Broil and sides and it was absolutely delicious.  Our Junior Warden has done an exemplary job this year and has finished the year with bang.  We then opened the meeting in the usual manner and Bro. Sec read 1 Petition for Reinstatement and 1 Petition for

Membership.  He also read a Petition for Demit.  A vote was had and they were approved.  We then dispensed with the rest of  the business, and welcomed MW Barry Rickman who installed our newly elected officers.  The list of the officers are added to the end of the newsletter.

Next month our Regularly Stated Meeting will be on January 4th, we will eat at 6:30pm and meeting will be at 7:30pm.

After the investigating committee reports on the new Petition the incoming Master will announce the date of the Entered Apprentice Degree.

I want to personally thank all who have contributed to this successful year, with a shout out to Linda Amick who made those delicious pecan pies.  Also to all who took care of cutting the grass and groundskeeping.  All  who have helped with cooking and general cleaning of the Lodge.  It has been a great year and has only enhanced my love for this Lodge and it’s Brothers.

Respectfully,

Jud B. Close WM
