Committees List

The Audit Committee is responsible for reviewing and verifying the financial records of the Lodge to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with Masonic law and Lodge bylaws. The committee examines the books of the Treasurer and Secretary, including receipts, disbursements, bank statements, and supporting documentation. The committee confirms that all funds have been properly accounted for, that expenditures were authorized, and that records are maintained in an orderly and consistent manner. Any discrepancies, concerns, or recommendations for improvement are documented and reported to the Lodge. The Audit Committee does not manage funds or make financial decisions; its role is strictly oversight and verification. The committee serves as a safeguard for the Lodge’s assets and helps maintain trust, accountability, and sound financial stewardship. Audits are conducted at regular intervals as required by Grand Lodge law or as directed by the Worshipful Master, and a written report is submitted to the Lodge upon completion.

Audit Committee

The committee shall assist in planning transportation and schedules for official delegations of the Lodge, including visits to other Lodges, district meetings, schools of instruction, and other Masonic activities as directed. The committee shall ensure that all travel is conducted in a dignified and fraternal manner and in accordance with Lodge bylaws and Grand Lodge regulations. The Traveling Committee serves to promote fraternal relations, strengthen inter-Lodge fellowship, and support participation in the wider Masonic community.

Boyleston Lodge Travelers Committee (BLTs)

The committee shall review anticipated income and expenditures, evaluate financial needs of the Lodge and its committees, and prepare a proposed budget in accordance with Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and sound financial practices. The proposed budget shall be submitted to the Lodge for review, discussion, and approval. The committee may monitor budget performance throughout the year and recommend adjustments as necessary, subject to Lodge approval. The Budget Committee shall work in coordination with the Treasurer and other officers but shall not exercise authority over disbursements except as authorized by the Lodge. The Budget Committee serves to promote fiscal responsibility, transparency, and prudent stewardship of Lodge funds.

Budget Committee

The committee is responsible for inspecting the Lodge property, identifying maintenance needs, and recommending repairs, improvements, or capital projects necessary to preserve the safety, functionality, and appearance of the facility. The Building Committee shall obtain estimates, supervise approved work, and ensure that projects are completed in a cost-effective and timely manner. All expenditures and projects shall be conducted in accordance with Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and approvals granted by the Lodge. The committee shall report regularly to the Lodge regarding the condition of the building, ongoing projects, and recommendations for future improvements. The Building Committee serves to safeguard the Lodge’s physical assets and ensure the facility remains suitable for Masonic use and community activities.

Building Committee

The committee shall examine proposed changes to the By-Laws to ensure consistency with the Constitution, Code, and Regulations of the Grand Lodge, and to verify that such proposals are clear, necessary, and properly written. The committee may also review the existing By-Laws periodically and recommend revisions to maintain accuracy, clarity, and compliance with current Grand Lodge requirements. All proposed amendments shall be reported to the Lodge in writing, along with the committee’s recommendations, prior to any vote. The committee may provide guidance on the interpretation of the By-Laws when requested by the Worshipful Master or the Lodge, but shall not exercise legislative authority. The By-Laws Committee serves to protect the integrity of the Lodge’s governing documents and ensure their continued conformity with Masonic law.

By-Laws Committee

The committee shall identify opportunities for service within the local community that reflect the principles of Freemasonry, including benevolence, relief, and brotherly love. Activities may include charitable projects, volunteer efforts, support for local organizations, and assistance to individuals in need, subject to approval of the Lodge. The committee shall coordinate approved projects, encourage member participation, and ensure that all activities are conducted in a dignified manner consistent with Lodge bylaws and Grand Lodge regulations. The committee shall report regularly to the Lodge regarding planned activities, completed projects, and outcomes. The Community Service Committee serves to strengthen the Lodge’s relationship with the community and to demonstrate the charitable and moral values of Freemasonry through service.

Community Service Committee

The committee shall be responsible for inspecting the grounds, identifying maintenance needs, and recommending landscaping, repairs, and improvements necessary to preserve the safety, cleanliness, and appearance of the property. This includes lawns, parking areas, walkways, fences, signage, and other exterior features. The committee may obtain estimates, coordinate approved work, and supervise maintenance activities as authorized by the Lodge. All actions shall be conducted in accordance with Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and approved budgets. The Grounds Committee shall report regularly to the Lodge regarding the condition of the grounds, completed work, and recommendations for future improvements. The committee serves to protect the Lodge’s property and ensure a safe and welcoming exterior environment.

Grounds Committee

The committee shall develop, organize, and present instruction in Masonic history, symbolism, ritual, philosophy, and Lodge governance for the benefit of the brethren. This may include educational presentations during stated meetings, degree instruction support, candidate education, officer development, and study programs consistent with the teachings and traditions of Freemasonry. The committee shall ensure that all educational materials and presentations conform to Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and accepted Masonic standards. The committee shall encourage participation, recommend resources, and report its activities to the Lodge. The Masonic Education Committee serves to strengthen the knowledge, understanding, and fraternal growth of the brethren and to preserve the principles and traditions of Freemasonry.

Masonic Education Committee

he committee shall coordinate with the Worshipful Master, Lodge officers, the family of the deceased, and the funeral director to ensure that Masonic funeral rites are conducted with dignity, decorum, and in accordance with Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and established Masonic protocol. The committee may be responsible for organizing participants, regalia, ritual materials, and logistical arrangements as approved. The committee shall ensure that all services are conducted respectfully and in a manner that honors the memory of the deceased Brother and the traditions of Freemasonry. The Funeral Committee serves to provide comfort to the bereaved and to represent the Lodge with honor during funeral and memorial services.

Masonic Funeral Committee

The committee shall discreetly inquire into requests for relief, assess the circumstances of each case, and make recommendations to the Lodge regarding appropriate assistance, subject to Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and available funds. All investigations and deliberations shall be conducted with strict confidentiality and compassion. The committee shall report its findings and recommendations to the Lodge in such manner as to protect the dignity and privacy of those involved. The Needy Committee serves to uphold the Masonic principle of relief and to ensure that aid is provided wisely, fairly, and in a timely manner.

Relief Committee

The committee shall develop and recommend procedures to promote the safety of Lodge meetings, events, and activities, including coordination with Lodge officers to control access to the building, protect Lodge property, and respond appropriately to emergencies or disturbances. The committee shall act in a supportive role and shall not supersede the authority of the Worshipful Master, Wardens, or appointed officers. All security-related actions shall be conducted discreetly, respectfully, and in compliance with Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and applicable laws. The committee shall report recommendations or concerns to the Worshipful Master and the Lodge as appropriate. The Security Committee serves to preserve peace and order and to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all authorized persons.

Safety & Security Committee

The committee shall be responsible for creating, maintaining, and monitoring official Lodge social media accounts in a manner that reflects the dignity, values, and reputation of Freemasonry. Content shall be limited to approved Lodge activities, charitable works, public events, educational material suitable for public viewing, and other communications authorized by the Lodge. All postings shall comply with Lodge bylaws, Grand Lodge regulations, and established Masonic protocol. The committee shall ensure that no esoteric, ritualistic, or confidential information is disclosed. The committee shall act under the direction of the Worshipful Master and shall report its activities to the Lodge as requested. The Social Media Committee serves to promote positive public awareness, enhance communication, and support community engagement while preserving the honor and traditions of the Lodge.
